What do you think of the name Charleigh for a girl???

My friend wants to name her girl this. I think its AWFUL!!!
First of all, its a boys name, has a BAD spelling, and its a NICKNAME for Charles.

Not too big of a fan as you can tell!!!
Are you?

  • I've never seen it that way before, i think it looks like a girls way of spelling it but still is a boys name.

  • I think it's ok. Though it's a boy's name, I have known females with the name Charlie (traditional spelling) before.

Charles is a family name of ours. I have a female cousin named Charlese. I think that's a better option for a girl.

  • Pronounced Charlie or Carly?

I think it's okay. I'd be more likely to use it as an alternate spelling for Carly, though. Maybe drop the H.

Why does it matter anyway? It's not your baby. You think it's a bad name and a bad spelling. She doesn't. Whose opinion matters more? Yours? Ours? Or hers?

And many 'boys' names are used for girls, just as many 'girls' names are used for boys.

Ashley, Shannon, Jamie, Jessie, Teagan, etc etc. No reason why Charlie (or a variant of it) can't be used.

Again, what YOU think doesn't matter. What any of US thinks doesn't matter.

It's HER child. And how do you think your FRIEND would feel to know that you were posting anonymously on a public forum, insulting her choice? Not very nice.
