Do your parents do anything for you or you dh on holidays like Father's or Mother's Day?

We saw DH's parents on Friday for Fathers day. We planned a nice picnic in the park and gave his Dad a card and a lunch certificate. At the end DH's mom says well happy Fathers day to you too on Sunday. It was like an after thought, like it wasn't important at all.
My mother always does something nice for my sisters and I on Mothers day. This year she gave us all a big flower pot.
So I guess my question you and your families celebrate all fathers on Fathers day or just your own father?

  • We don't celebrate either. For Mother's Day I get nothing. Actually my dad sometimes gets me a card or a few bucks or something. But I get nothing from my husband or kids...not even as an afterthought. they just don't care.

My husband also gets nothing on Father's Day because he doesn't care. He already has everything he wants so there's nothing to buy him.

  • no.

I get my dad something and my mom something but my husband isn't my dad. I help my girls with things for him though...

my MIL and SILs always send cards and stuff for mothers day and fathers always struck me as being sooooo strange! I'm not their MOM.

  • No, that would be awkward. Afterall, they aren't my children so why would they wish me a happy mother's day? That is for my daughters to do and no one else. Same thing goes for my husband - it's for the girls to remember him as their father, not anyone else.
