  • from the 4th to the 8th month... meaning it's really early to start sitting in the 4th month but not uncommon and the should be by the 8th month... well, that's sitting without support! Not getting into a sitting postion. Our little girl started sitting at the end of her 4th month or the first week of her 5th.... and getting into a sitting position was about her 7th month.

  • My son was about 4 months when he would sit up on his own, my daughter was 5 months. One of my nieces was almost 6, the other was closer to 8. My nephew did everything late. He was about 8.5 months before he was sitting up unsupported. Anywhere from 4-8 months, like said before falls in the "norm". Babies are all so different, the ranges for the expected time to do any milestone is generally about 3-4 months wide.
