Will eating ice cream hurt a two month old?

Today is my DH"s bday and I wanted to just stick my finger in the chocolate ice cream and get liquid on it, and give my DD a taste. I'm just wondering if this would hurt her in any way.

  • is she taking formula with lactose in it? if so then the lactose in the icecream shouldn't hurt her, as long as you don't feed her a whole bunch

  • A small taste would not harm her - but leave it at that.
i know a small taste of ice-cream could lead to a small bit of this - then a small bit of that, and then before you know it you've started solids entirely too early.

My advise would be to not, but like I said - it would not harm her.

  • I don't think a little dab on your finger would hurt her.
I always want to give my daughter stuff but I stop myself lol. She is 4 months now, I had baked potatoes yesterday and I have her a little tiny piece, like a speck and she just kinda played with it in her mouth then it fell out. I let her suck on baby carrots sometimes too, she gets really excited and laughs.

  • No..It will not hurt your baby to have a taste of ice cream or cake. Or any othe food as a matter of fact.. I think it is a good thing..

  • louise2 - stop giving "advise".
it's not a "good thing", but it's alright if it's a once off only.

And it's only alright because it is near liquid - unlike "cake" or "any other food".
