Baby being held at the hospital

What reasons have you heard or experienced that a healthy baby is being held (per social service request) for a couple of days at the hospital after the mother has been discharged?

  • Possible drug involvement on behalf of the mother, suspected abuse, previous reports and charges against the parents for abuse against other children, or a possible recheck of certain blood tests done within the first 24 hours of life. If social services are involved, that usually indicates a problem with the parents or the mother.

  • I heard of a lady who had to prove that she was bonding with her son, because she cried at some point, while drug form a CS, that she was hoping for a girl. BS if you ask me. But also, drugs in the mom or babies system, some making claims that would mean endangerment to the infant,

  • if ss is involved than it is prob a question of safety for the baby for one reason or another could be somthing a nurse saw or an call they recieved or somthing found in testing so many things
