Should I bottle feed the 5 weeks old rottweiler puppy?

We bought 5 weeks old puppy, he is big and strong and eats solid food. But I think I should give him some puppy milk too.

  • He should be fine with food. It is odd that you have him so young though. Most mother dogs will stop letting them nurse when they are that old. He may have some clingy issues though since he was taken from his mother early. But he should be all right with some soft food or hard food with some warm water in it to soften it up. Good luck and have fun with your new puppy.

  • You shouldn't have a puppy that young PERIOD.

  • True... they're not supposed to be away from mom til at least 6 wks.

BUT, since you already have him, just mix his puppy food with warm water to make it a sort of pasty texture & he'll do just fine.

  • 6 at the extreme end of earliest...decent breeders won't let them go until about 12 weeks of age.
