What happens to the egg?

If your period is the lining of your uterus, what happens to the egg after it comes down? I always thought your period was the unfertalized egg.

  • What? You thought all that blood came from a tiny itsy bitsy egg? It's your uterus's self cleaning system.

  • Your uterus makes a thick lining in readiness for a fertilized egg. If that egg doesn't come then it sloughs off as your period. You egg is also part of that but only a microscopic part.
