  • I was wondering the same thing. Well I knew what it was called, but what exactly is it? I thought it was maybe the babies umbilical cord or something? Anyone know if I am right?

  • No, it's not the baby's umbilical cord. When a woman is pregnant, the color is accented turning it a dark brown due to hormones surging through your body. During pregnancy, a woman's hormones produce more melanin, a pigment causing a darkening of the skin which is why it gets darker. It usually becomes more noticeable after about 12 weeks. Mine became really noticeable around 20 weeks.
