  • Our pediatrician recommended we make the first appointment around their second birthday. My twins will be two in a couple of months, and several places I called said they would not see them until after the 2nd birthday unless they had an obvious problem.

  • My doc and my husband's dentist both said around 1 year. Mainly just to check that everything is coming in well and to get your child used to the office. Also, so you can ask questions if you have any.

  • Our pediatrician told us that we didn't need to take my son until he was 3.

  • The American Academy of Pediatrics now suggests that babies see the dentist if they have teeth by their first birthday. If they don't have teeth by then, their first appointment should be 6 months after the first tooth finally erupts.
