my husband received some papers from the american legion, if he signs those papers to get the benefits will they take him away?

He was on the military and well now he told me that he is on call so they can call him to go back.

  • The American Legion is a non-profit veteran's service group. THEY cannot get him called back up. Filling out the paperwork won't do anything...he's already at risk ANYWAY, depending upon the terms of his discharge.

  • ...Being an inactive reservist (which is what he is if he's been in the military and was discharged after his initial contract was over), has nothing to do with the American Legion. The American Legion is actually around as an advocate for veterans and has no actual ties to the military. When your husband signed on the dotted line to join the military, his contract state that he would have X amount of years in active duty, then X amount of years in inactive duty where he could be called up to go to war should the need arise, which it actually has happened since 2001. The American Legion has absolutely nothing to do with military duty. They can help people with VA claims (advocate for rights for an individual), they have scholarships and youth programs... Check out their website for more info.
