How old were your kids when you started expecting them to take showers

instead of baths? my DS's are 4yrs and 3yrs. They usually get baths. sometimes showers. my younger son likes showers a lot. I supervise them of course, they dont just shower alone. ...
But when DO you expect a child to shower without assitance and on a regular basis?

  • Mine have been showering without help since they were 5 or 6. All they take are showers now because the tub is cracked. It can't take the wait of the kids and the water. They are 9, 7 and 6 now. I still supervise my 3yo.

  • My daughter just started taking showers on her own, she's 7. Sometimes I check her hair to make sure she rinsed the shampoo out all the way, but for the most part she's pretty good on her own. My older boys also started showering on their own around 7 and 8.

  • I don't have an expectation for my son to take showers. He can take baths the rest of his life if he wants! As long he stays relatively clean, does it really matter?

  • About 6. But honestly, I still have to come in and remind my 8 year to wash his hair or he won't do it.

  • My son takes tub baths. I have no idea why he has an aversion to showers. As long as his hair is washed and he uses SOAP and RINSES it off, and hangs up his towel, we're cool.
