  • Do you need help around the house with chores? Folding clothes, sweeping the kitchen? She is old enough to help with that. Trust me, when she realizes that she might actually have to work instead of watching tv that means she will find something new to do and not be bored.

  • Your local library might have summer reading groups, if she's into that kind of thing. My library also has a summer movie series, they show a different movie every week. Something like that might make her look forward to each new week and it would give her an excuse to get out of the house at least =]

  • She is old enough to learn a hobby or craft. Get her some bakeable clay, or some yarn and knitting needles or crochet hook, some cross stitch, a bug catcher (so she can identify insects) an aquarium with fish, almost anything she can have fun with and learn from (without realizing she's learning, that's the fun part) Good luck and God Bless!

  • Have her check out this list http://www.cjkidz.com/Summerfun.html    I babysat my 8 year old neice today, she played dress up and put on a fashion show ALL DAY.  Your 10 year old might like some of the creative -make something ideas.

  • Clean, READ. Find friends outside to play with. Crafts, scrapbooking, etc. Michaels has a lot of kid friendly craft projects.

  • Housework will get her UN-BORED real quick!! At 10 she's plenty old enough to help you around the house.

  • Actually, I wish we lived close by then she could come play with my ten year old. Kyla is never bored and has enough imagination for four kids. Its all I can do, not to squash her imagination.
Like right now she's writing a play, that we are going to practice for later. (thrilling huh?) Apparently I am the director and producer. So I wonder who is acting? Personally, whatever my mom did when I spouted that bored nonsense, was to ignore me. It actually worked. At ten, she's old enough to entertain herself, its honestly not your problem. She knows what she could be doing, some people have their best brainwaves, while being bored.

  • I encourage ds to call friends from school or neighborhood and make plans, now he's all out and about and I'm bored. I work when he's in school and off in summer but I can only clean so much.
