Alec Baldwin has apologized for a controversial reference to "getting a Filipina mail-order bride" that he made during a recent appearance on Late Show with David Letterman. "I believe that most people understood that this was a joke and took it as such," the actor blogged for the Huffington Post. "(A dated reference, no doubt, and another sign of my advancing age.) However, I do apologize to anyone who took offense.... Such anger and frustration about the issue of sex trafficking is understandable."

  • I don't feel that it's really any different from slavery. This man down the road from my parent's home had a mail order bride, and on any given day you'd see her chopping wood or carrying 5 gallon buckets of water down the road from the creek. She looked completely miserable.

    Makes me sad.

  • I always picture some sloppy, ignorant, lonley manordering a bride becasue she'll basically be his slave. I don't agree with it but to each his own.
