Has anyone else's kids swallowed a lot of baby powder?

Today I was changing my DD diaper and i turned around to get some wipes..then back around and she gotten the baby powder and got a bunch of powder in her mouth....she start gagging so i gave her some water to wash it down...My other question is...Do u think it's gonna be hard for her to breath tonight while sleeping? or do you think it's already down in her stomach??

  • call poison control, 1-800-222-1222 and ask them what they think.

  • I would call your doctor or poison control immediately. I remember a case several years ago where a baby actually died from inhaling baby powder. They may have changed the formula since then but I would take NO chances. She needs medical attention.

  • Call poison control right away. They may want you to have her throw it up.

  • yes can be very dangerous. The talc powder in it clogs up the lungs and causes fluid to form. call poison control or take her to the doc. or hospital.

  • I would call right away, I've read horror stories about powder getting into babies lungs and them dying of suffercation!

  • Ok i just called the poison control...and they said it's only the Talc powder thats bad...My daughter swallowed the Johnson's Baby powder with pure cornstarch...and she said nothing wud happened just maybe constipation ..but the lady is going to call back just to check up on her. Thanks for everyones advice...I was pretty scared about that!
