Do most women?

Actually carry to the 40 weeks mark?

I'm due on December 5th. - So I'm hoping and crossing my fingers that I'll actually have my child around that time, I want a december baby! lol.
But my question is, Do most women actually carry to the 40 week exception?

  • It depends on your race and whether this is your first pregnancy or not. For first time pregnancies white women average is 41 weeks, african american is 38.7 weeks, and hispanic women is 39.5 weeks according to my midwife. That being said I am white and my first was born at 38 weeks 4 days and second at 39 weeks 2 days. They say that on average you go a couple days earlier with your second/third pregnancies, but that didn't hold true for me either!

  • I'm a 40-weeker. 1st was 40 wk, 2nd was 40 wk 4 day, 3rd was 39 wk 6 day, 4th was 40 wk 3 day. I don't expect to go before 40 wks with #5 either.
