cap and trade and the 2010 election........

In a previous (and very intelligent ;) post cap and trade is being discussed. It seems from the answers that there is a pretty bi-partsan agreement that this a bad idea. That being said, do you think that this could be an issue, if passed, that will hurt dems (and repubs stupid enough to vote on it) in the next bout of elections?

  • I hope so, I just found a list of fence sitters whom I believe are waiting for the "best deal" to decide if they want to vote yes or no on this. That angers me to no end. How can a constituant have any confidence in you if you are thinking vote no "unless i get a better deal" Thats exactly what is going on and we need to call our reps to make sure they get the message that their jobs are on the line with this one.

  • Nancy pelosi is demanding allegence to her rather than constituants from the Dems. That is not good. Even senator kkk bird is not in favor of the cram down tactics being used by reid and pelosi to get this economic crippling bill passed.

  • Yes, those who vote FOR it will be punished next election

This is a new way for the gov't (& new "green" corporations which have been set up to profit from the "carbon credits" bribe system) to just collect boatloads of money. Do you understand what they say they need the money for? What the money will be used for? I mean, homeowners pay taxes to support local schools, a town's sales tax funds police and fire services ... Is all this money going to just go to paying the salaries of all the gov't workers who will be assigned to check that every company and every citizen is paying their full carbon tax?

85% of what they collect has already been promised to special interests in order to get votes for this bill. Plus, they must pay for all the new gov't workers who will be needed to wrap every company and every family in red tape.

... it is simply an excuse to collect money, and it will raise prices on EVERYTHING

  • And here are a couple of places where you can see for yourself how the politicians have voted, on anything.

Hmm, I wonder if any of these sites have records of how the politicians voted in the committees, since that is where most of the dealing gets done ...
