TTC with PCOS help!! :(

Hi im 18 and I have PCOS and have been TTC for a year. I cant chart my periods because they are so irregular, and I dont know when to test so i do it once a month just in case. I went to the doctor and he told me that i needed to get pregnant in the next 3 years if i want a baby(that was last year). All the women on my mothers side have PCOS also but they never had a problem getting pregnant(they got pregnant there first time having sex). Does anyone have any tips or advice that might help me. thanks in advance :)

  • Well, all I know about PCOS is through a friend of mine who has it. Why did your Doctor tell you that you have to get pregnant within 3 years? My friend is 32 and nothing has been said to her about age or time limits. Anyway, one of the issues with PCOS is that you don't ovulate or if you do, you don't ovulate when you should. I'd suggest getting OPKs to see if you ovulate, although these are not always 100% accurate. (Check out And, yes you can chart. Take your temp everyday and chart it, also chart your CM. When you get a spike in temp that's about when you should be o'ing. Check out for more info on charting. If you're still having issues with conceiving, talk more with your doctor. There are drugs that you can take to help. My friend is on her 2nd cycle of Clomid and she's on Metformin. You may need to start seeing an RE. Good luck. Hope some of this helps.

  • join a ttc w/pcos group on here
    opk's don't usually work with pcos'ers
i am 27...have had pcos for about 10 + yrs
i just conceived my first child in oct through the help of metformin... he was lost in the 2nd tri, so we are sort of ttc again. i am taking met again.
i temp everyday but temping with pcos isnt always accurate either. and neither is checking the cm. i still suggest trying it because it might work for you. i rarely ovulate. but you dont get a peak when you O, you get a dip in your temp. you have what is called a peak day the day after O tho.
there are some books you can check out from the library... take charge of your fertility, that is all about temping and stuff. also a book called PCOS and your fertility.
eat a balanced diet of Low GI foods. exercise. lots of water.
and i hope you are in a stable relationship, just cause your only 18 and ttcing for a year.
i dont know your situation, not judging gl
