is it safe to diet in the early months of pregnancy?

  • You shouldn't diet while pregnant. You should just make healthy choices with your diet and avoid junk food but don't try to go on a diet! Congratulations on the pregnancy!!

  • Absolutely not. You don't need to take in more than 500 additional calories per day to make a baby but dieting can be harmful to you and your baby. Light exercising is good, as long as it is cleared by the doctor. Good luck.

  • NO! You should eat healthy... fruits & salads & what you normally need... carbs... meats... etc. But, to limit how much you eat or go hungry... NOOOOOOOO! That baby needs food!

  • Well when your pregnant your really supposed to eat healthy so if u want to DIET i wouldnt reccomend it, but just eat healthy and excercise lightly.. try not to do too much jumping etc.. run only if you ran in the past...dont do any stretches/workouts that work your stomach....swimming is probably the best workout along with bicycling.. but when your prego your balance is off and arent so graceful as you were, its best to use a bicycle that you find at a gym so you dont fall :) hope this helps!

  • It is ok to eat healthy, cut back on fats and sugars etc but I would say no to the diet until after the baby.

  • Not diet, but you should definitly change your diet to eat more healthy and organic foods. Grab the carrot sticks instead of the potato chips. How about a salad instead of a burger. Fish instead of steak! Easy things like that will help you lose that unwanted weight AND keep your baby healthy.

  • You can change your "diet" to include healthier foods & cut out the junk. Some moms lose weight early in pregnancy just b/c they make better eating decisions. Also, getting light exercise is great for your body & the baby! I pull my son in the wagon... it's easy on me, but we both love it. :)

  • it all depends on what you mean by diet."diet" as in eat healthy definately but "diet" as in limit your food intake, definately not. talk to your doctor if you are concerned about your weight. he may suggest you do minimal exercise, which could help keep your weight gain at a healthy level. try eating lots of fruits and veggies and if you have to eat meat, eat your healthy meat such as chicken and turkey. oh and drink lots of water, whether its flavored or not, because dehydration is the number one cause of preterm labor !!! it will also help keep you slim

  • Definitely no dieting during pregnancy. You actually need another 300 calories on top of whatever your regular caloric intake should be. Most women have no trouble eating more than that though. LOL.
