  • Tummy time is when your baby is about a month old and you lay them on their tummy, on a flat surface, on a thick blanket, not the bed. They will pick their head up to look around. Basically this is an exercise that allows them to strengthen their muscles. At about 2 months, you can place a few brightly colored toys on the blanket and they will start to reach for them. Tummy time helps promote awareness, strengthens muscles, and provides a great time for you to get down on the floor with them and see things from their perspective. Good Luck, God Bless and remember, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

  • tummy time is letting your baby lay on their stomach so they can work the mucles in their necks so it strengthens it so it doesnt flop as much and eventually when they are older you put them on the tummy so they can strengthen not only their neck but their arms and learn to try to crawl.

  • Nychic pretty much nailed it. some kids really love it and if you buy a good tummy time mate its a great way to let them play while they get stronger because they will try to get to the toys

  • Okay thank you. I have a part 2 now - i remember seeing someone write something about how long/often they give their baby tummy time. how many minutes/times a day should i give them tummy time. AND when should i start doing this with the baby?
