  • It's OBVIOUS Obama even knows better than us how to raise our children! He's so amazing, isn't he?!??!

I'll be interested to see how many people refuse to see the writing on the wall after THIS bill goes through!

Australia is looking better and better every day! LOL

  • From the link above...

    * Parents would no longer be able to administer reasonable spankings to their children.11.

    * A murderer aged 17 years and 11 months and 29 days at the time of his crime could no longer be sentenced to life in prison.12.

    * Children would have the ability to choose their own religion while parents would only have the authority to give their children advice about religion.13.

    * The best interest of the child principle would give the government the ability to override every decision made by every parent if a government worker disagreed with the parent’s decision.14.

    * A child’s “right to be heard” would allow him (or her) to seek governmental review of every parental decision with which the child disagreed.15.

    * According to existing interpretation, it would be illegal for a nation to spend more on national defense than it does on childr

  • * Children would acquire a legally enforceable right to leisure.17.

    * Christian schools that refuse to teach "alternative worldviews" and teach that Christianity is the only true religion "fly in the face of article 29" of the treaty.18.

    * Allowing parents to opt their children out of sex education has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC.19.

    * Children would have the right to reproductive health information and services, including abortions, without parental knowledge or consent.20.

Think that New World Order is a bunch of right-wing lunacy, now?!?!?!?

  • So, LoriKeet why do you think children don't deserve the Constitutional rights ? Like freedom of religion, right to privacy.
I did not vote for Obama but I do support the bill.

  • As biological parents we are responsible for raising OUR children...not some governing body located in Switzerland!!!

Why not just cut out the middle man and put your children up for adoption, and cease being responsible for them, since that is what this bill will do!

  • Can't you see it coming--children produce carbon emissions--in order for us to even consider having a child, we too may find ourselves having to purchase a permit! Then after we have that child resulting from a permit, our Gov. has the right to tell us how that child is to be raised. This is about taking the parental authority out of the equation and inserting the government's authority which will allow our children to be indoctrinated into the government's agenda--DRONES doing the Government's bidding, never questioning, never caring, always dependent upon government handouts.

  • Anon. CHILDREN don't deserve all of the rights and freedoms that adults have, for good reason. How exactly to you expect children to make these kinds of decisions?

All that most of these things will do is create a generation more entitled, and less educated than the last. What will happen is children will become aware of their "rights" and threaten their parents with them.

Governmental review of every decision that the child doesn't agree with? Really? I see no way for this to be enforced, and it is another way for children to gain control over their parents.

  • Children under 18 do not have any "Rights" that usurp a PARENT'S ROLE or RESPONSIBILITY!!!

I suppose your children rule your home?! If they don't yet, they will soon enough with you're laid back attitude!

What are you gonna do when they tell you they don't want to go to school anymore? Just gonna let it slide?

What are you going to say when your 14 year old daughter wants to have sex with her boyfriend in her bed under YOUR roof?! Just gonna let it slide?

What are you gonna do if your teenager tells you they are going to come and go as they please, and do whatever they want, but you get to keep feeding, clothing, and housing them?! Just gonna let it slide?

Did YOUR parents put up with your attitude?! I suppose you'll say, that's okay my little snowflake...just do whatever the heck you feel like doing. Mommy and Daddy have no say over what you do.
