how do you get rid of the hiccups on a 1 week yr old?

my lil' boy has the hiccups after he eats every time, and i even burp him, and he still get the hiccups! how do you get rid of them?

  • You don't. They are a normal part of your body. They are more bothersome to you, than they are to him most likely! :)

  • Try a feeding him/her a little breastmilk or formula ... I was always too afraid to give my baby anything else at 1wk old

  • Try a tablespoon of water, we started giving our kids water after 1 week old, we started with a tablespoon then after 1 month we started 1oz in between feedings. This might help, if not the hiccups don't really bother them.

  • Its normal for babies to have hiccups alot. Mine had them just about everyday for months and months. Dr said it was totaly normal and not to worry.

  • Hiccups are good, the strengthen the diaphram.

  • If he is doing it after eating he might have GERD. My son was the same way. Does he spit up often?

  • it's normal. Mine got them all the time! they do not hurt baby and are more of a nuisance/worry for the parents than anything else.
