Reallly Bad Chapped Lips

My DD is 15 and just got braces on in March. Shes had very severe chapped lips her bottom lip is huge and swollen and no matter how much chap stick she puts on it, it wont go away. I've bought her 3 different types of Blistex, and one of the Carmex she has used it all up and Her lips are still reallly bad. It hurts her to talk, any suggestions of what will help?

  • olive oil, if you mix a little brown sugar into it it will exfoliate the dead skin off, but i wouldnt do that until the pain starts to go away

  • i would use ice for the swollen and keep using carmex that the best stuff to buy i would also encourage drinking water to keep her lips moisten naturaly. when i had braces i used just the cheap chapstick that comes in the black and white tubes i used it like every half hr intill i felt like i didnt need it anymore.

  • Aquaphor works wonders!!!! She may be sleeping with her mouth open at night, run a vaporizer at night to keep the room moist.
