Can you use food coloring to tie-dye?

I always thought you could because it didn't come out of clothing. Anyone used it?

  • I think you'd end up with pastel colors. If you try it make sure you get some wood ash to soak the clothes in first. It makes the dye sink in and the color stay. You'll find it with the tie dye stuff at a craft store.

  • I've tried it, it doesn't work. Oddly, food dye stains clothes, but doesn't dye clothes. LOL!
