As long as he's in good health and can take care of his child, then I'd say clear up into his 50's. Ideally, young enough to leave some time to enjoy retirement, but I don't see any reason why an older man can't raise children. It happens to a lot of unwitting people nowadays anyway, when they end up raising their grandchildren. One of my old co-workers was in that situation. He was in his 60's, raising his daughter's 2 little toddlers. He was in great health --even rode a bicycle to work every day, so that's definitely helpful as far as keeping up with them. lol.
