Cat Pee Smell in Carpet

One of our indoor cats had a bladder infection and was pee'ing outside the litter box. Any ideas of how to get that smell gone from carpets?

  • Try cleaning the area really well with carpet shampoo then soaking with Natures Miracle. You can get Natures Miracle at most pet stores (Superpetz or Petsmart)

  • Vinegar will help. And then shampoo the whole carpet.

  • I have a girl cat and a screen front door. it sucks because the front door get sprayed by all the boy cats in the neighborhood and out entryway smell is unbearable. I found that febreeze works the best! the antibacterial one though! cats carry bacteria in their potty.

  • Go to the pet store and ask. They carry products just to wipe out that smell.

  • :( i've struggled with this for a long time, if you have the resources to replace your carpet you should. i know i don't, the best thing i've found so far to cover it is "arm and hammer" pet odor powder, you sprinkle it on the carpet and vacuum it up 15 minutes later. for actual cat piss- i dump it on the carpet and vacuum it up hours later. i can't smell it anymore but i dont know if its gone.

  • oh and the powder is 2 dollars, found on most cleaning isles i got mine at target. the pet stores will sell you crap for a much higher price. nothing i bought there worked. let me know if you find something though.

  • theres a cleaner, don't remember what its called but its sold at walmart and target (i just used the rest of mine so i don't have the bottle anymore) but its a pet mess cleaner and "orange" is in the name somewhere. it gets the stains up and the smell out. think its about $6-$8 a bottle but its worth it.
