SAHM's What do you do all day?

Please no bashing. I recently got laid off and my husband wants me to stay home. I am not sure because I am mostly bored all day. I get up with dh at 4:45 by 9:30 or 10AM I am done doing all the house chores, laundry and everything else. I have even resorted to cleaning my teens room and doing his laundry, just so I have more work to do. What do the rest of you ladies do all day.

  • have you thought about doing volunteer work? I think it would help you feel productive while helping others.

  • I try not to beat my 5 year old. Just kidding. Well up until now I have had her to deal with all day, but she is starting kindergarten in August. Then I have no idea what I will do with myself. I will probably be a room mother or volunteer at her school. I am very sad though, because I don't want my baby to grow up.

  • I get up hella late so I dont get bored like that...LOL well my DF sometimes works from noon to 9pm so we get up around 11. drop him off at noon. come home get ready for yoga and relax. Yoga at 1:30 to 3pm. Then I wait til I can get him for his lunch at 4pm and after that I just bum around and clean until he gets home at 9.

sometimes he works 4p-1a and thats where he boredom strikes. Basically im bored all day or doing pointless activities.

  • I would consider this as time myself and do things that I enjoy. Maybe you could exercise or start a new hobby? Maybe now is a good time to go back to school?

  • Since your children are older now, this is an excellent time to look into things you would enjoy as well! Volunteer work, school (even online!), or a new hobby are all great suggestions. As soon as mine are in school I plan on going back to school myself. Enjoy this time to yourself! :)

  • I work in the house, and interact with my children. Times when they play alone I come online for a bit.

  • Well, my little one is almost 4 months and it seems like I rarely have free time because once I have stuff done I just entertain her. But once 8:30-9 comes around and she is sleeping I like reading or scrapbooking. Calling friends to catch up is nice. And spending some time with my hubby before he goes to bed is always nice too.

  • I have been at home for almost 24 years and my children are almost 23, 21, almost 19 and 17. The older 2 have moved out and the younger 2 will be seniors next year. I stay busy all day long between housework, laundry, making lunch for my teens who come home for lunch and walking our 4 dogs (I take 4 walks every day). By the time I have a few minutes everyone is either starting to arrive home or I have a track meet to go to or a football game to go to. I go to all home and away events. My husband has 1 day during the week off so on those days we spend time together, enjoying a little kid free time. I don't spend much time online during the day & I don't watch any daytime TV and I honestly don't get bored. I stay pretty busy with what needs done around here and with spending time with my family.

  • Clean, run errands ....

I took on photography as a hobby so I do that a lot. I play on the computer too :-)

I'm a disabled SAHM so not much I can do!
