  • Bare minimum is 1 yr and 20 lbs. Children under 1yr and 20 lbs MUST RF. Most convertible seats allow RF up to 35 lbs. After 35lbs, a child MUST rear face (with the exception of the new Graco My Ride, which RF to 40 but I believe it is for SHORT kids)

  • You've got plenty of time before you need to move him.

  • Law says minimum of 20 lbs AND 1 year. Most convertible car seats (not the infant carriers) go up to 30-35 lbs rear facing. Keep them rear facing as long as possible. Mine were about 20 months both when they got turned around. First one got too tall second go too heavy!

  • No, the "law" does NOT say minimum of 20lbs and a year. The law is such in SOME states...about 9. It is not the law everywhere.

  • The las DOES require 1 year and 20 because even if the state doesn't spell out 1 and 20 they all have a proper usage clause which means you have to use the seat as directed and they ALL say 1 and 20.
But it's best to keep your child rear facing as long as possible in a convertible seat... most rear face to 35 lbs but some now to 40. That would mean a child that is over 2 years old.
Ther American Acadamy of Pediatrics says children should rear face to the MINUMIM of 2 years.

  • It is the law that is MINIMUM of 1yr/20lbs. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you rear face to 2yrs/35lbs.
