sex after childbirth

my hubby and i just had sex 5 weeks postpartum... we couldnt wait til6 weeks. it felt good... do you think i bruised anything or messed the healing process up?

  • You should be fine if it didn't hurt you. The main reason they tell you to wait is to give yourself time to heal. If you tore and needed stitches then it is better to wait the full 6 weeks until the stitches are gone.

  • If you had a c-section or tore or something like that, it would be best to wait the full 6 weeks. But you did it at 5 weeks...i dont think a week is gonna make too much of a difference anyway. I had sex 2 weeks after each of my babies were born (when the bleedig stopped) and im doin ok. Now, having sex after having a baby is most likely gonna hurt a little bit and be uncomfortable but i think if it was unbearable, you should probably get checked as soon as you can.

  • You should be just fine! If it was hurting something you'd have known. Be honest at your 6wk postpartum check, though. Tell your OB or midwife so they can know what's going on.
