  • If the doctor said it's ok to give him whole milk, try just giving him a bottle of milk instead of formula. The only real reason (unless you're given a medical reason by the doctor) to mix it with formula is to get them adjusted to the taste. But if he likes the taste of milk, then that's not an issue. Of course, don't just switch completely to milk instead of formula, but maybe make one bottle a day milk and the rest formula, and then in a week up it to two bottles of milk. And something else to consider is maybe putting the milk in sippies instead of bottles so you kill two birds with one stone, weaning him off of formula and bottles at the same time.

  • Wait until his 12 month well baby check up when his pediatrician gives the "okay".

  • We gave him a bottle about 3/4 full of his regular formula mixture and 1/4 of milk. We did all the bottles like this for the first two days to see how he did. Then we upped it to 1/2 and 1/2 for a few days...finally ending with a full bottle of regular whole milk.

By waiting a bit between adding more cow's milk, you can make sure he doesn't have a problem with it. (sort of like you did when introducing new baby new one at a time and wait a few days.)

  • If your doctor told you to do this, then he should also give you instructions for how to do it.

  • the dr told me that i could give him a whole bottle of whole milk since he has had milk like in his table foods but i still wanna gradually introduce it to him

  • Put it in his sippy cup instead of formula (or breastmilk) and give it to him.

We just made the switch. They had been eating dairy foods with no trouble and the pediatrician said there was no need to do it slowly.
