  • Well, I make the sloppy joes by browning the meat with some onion, and then add ketchup, mustard and brown sugar to make the sauce. As to the sides, I serve them with homemade french fries, mac & cheese, chips, pasta salad, potato salad. Sometimes we do a veggie, too, but most times not, since it's one of my simple, in a hurry or feeling lazy meals.

  • My DH will not let me cook sloppy joes (i miss them too). But I used to always serve a three bean salad with it. I also liked to add green bell peppers to the meat as it was cooking and tabasco too.

  • Serve with a big salad.

Hey Texasgurl33; tell you husband that when he cooks, he can choose what to make. If he has health concerns, I have an awesome recipe for really healthy sloppy joes made with lentils.

  • I wish my grandkids would eat them. I always browned the meat with peppers and onions. Tomato sauce, yellow mustard, brown sugar, ground cumin and chile powder. Served over toasted buns with a cold pasta salad in summer fresh baked Macn cheese in winter and a side salad

  • I use packaged Sloppy Joe seasoning (we like the McCormick best). I always serve tater tots and corn with it. That's the way my mother always did and I am carrying on the tradition.

  • Green pepper, onion, brown sugar. I serve with fries or pasta salad. I serve cheese and even raw chopped onions on top of the sandwiches.
