ahhh i am so irritated!

we are potty training a 2 1/2 year old. so far, its going good-except he goes to his room, takes off his diaper, and tinkles in the floor. his potty is accessable to him and he has one in his room but he wont use it. WHY!?!? how do i teach him this is unacceptable? i have tried talking to him, making him clean up his own mess, sitting him in timeout. does anyone else have any other tips? please and thankyou :)

  • First stop putting diapers on him..Or pull ups..Take the potty out of his room..Only let him use a potty in the bath room. You need to bring him to the toilet like every hour..Tell he understands were he is supose to do it.

  • I agree with the above poster and potty is not something that should be in his room if your using a fake potty put it in the bathroom also pulls ups are diapers..they don't get the feel of being wet there for they could care less. Do underwear in the day and pull ups at night. JMO!

  • thank you very much for you opinions. a little clarification on the potty thing- i was having this problem a few weeks ago and asked this same question here on CM. i was given advice to put the potty in his room. that is why it is in there. at this point-im willing to try anything. lol. thank you again for your help

  • Yup,no more diapers! If you wanna potty train you gotta take it head on and avoid crutches, like diapers or pull ups.Hes taking the diapers off because he woesnt want to feel that wetness so I bet underware would do the trick.Make sure to keep him clothed so its harder for him to strip and pee. When you catch him you can give him a towel and make him clean it up or just express your disgust with him.Hes 2 1/2 he knows what your saying!
