I was installing an enterprise system at a newspaper in the middle of the desert and had no idea if it was ever going to work so I would get to go home. I would glance out the window of the server room at the dry, brown world outside, and think, "dammit, I'm not even going to be home for the 4th of July!"

10 years ago I was doing what I am doing now, only I was happy at my job. I also had 4 other part time jobs at once and was burning out with all of them- so I gradually quit them all except for my present one that now has new supervisors.

I was 9. That was the year after my mom left my bum step dad. He started sexually abusing me around that time. It wasn't a very happy childhood.
