public humiliation or private correction?

When we see a Christian sister's action are less than that of Christ should we call them out in a public way and chastise them publicly? Would it be better to hold on and wait for a quiet moment or perhaps a learning tool to show our sisters?

  • Or none of the above? It is between them and God, none of your business.

  • its Matt 18:15. but it says if your brother sins against you, not if they are sinning against God.

  • Personal opinion, NEVER criticze a person in public, or in front of others. It is rude, mean and tacky. I believe that what you do comes back to you, so if you do not treat another as you would want to be treated, then I'd say you can expect the Greater Powers that Be to kick you in the butt for it... And maybe more than once!!

    No, do it in private, or wait for an oportunity to set the example you think she should follow. Not your place to judge.... Or so says the Bible..

  • In the book of Timothy instruction is given on how to correct an erring brother or sister. One should first go privately to the erring one, then with two or three, especially if they are older respected ones of the church, then the erring one is to be brought to the church leadership, not the body for discipline. Now realize these are for "gross sins' remember we are all growing and learning in our faith. No one should strive to correct anyone else without carefully examining their own heart.

  • Shaneagle777 you do have a choice--wait for God to give a tool to teach if His will is too have you lash out at your sisters. You have the choice to ask God to do the work and worry about your own relationship. You have the choice MYOB as well.

    That is a very good point. I keep asking them to PM me, they never will. I have no idea why... ;)

  • Both... They are the ones doing the humiliating when they are using their ignorance of their own religion and beliefs against others... God will do the rest in private...
