  • try www.freecycle.org. There is a whole bunch of stuff you will find there. People are either moving and don't want to take it with.

Also local resale shops including goodwill, garage sales, and as other moms mentioned here craigslist might be a good idea as well. Big lots also sells furniture. If you have one nearby.

    Good luck! :)

  • Have you tried your local newspaper's classifieds? Or Craigslist?

  • Craigslist is a great place. Also, do you live near an IKEA? They have furniture in all ranges of prices. Be sure and don't go too cheap, tho. No reason to have furniture that doesn't look good after a year or so.

Also, check American Furniture or is it American Home Furniture. They have really good affordable furniture if you have one in your town or one nearby. :)

  • American Signature Furniture and Rooms To Go both have very affordable sets. They aren't the highest quality, but they'll last you a few years. Or, like others have suggested, you can consider purchasing used pieces through craigslist or your local paper's classified ads. That's usually very cheap, but the furniture may also be dirty and you'd have to decide if you can live on someone else's filth.

  • I was just in Big Lots and they actually have some nice looking furniture sets for cheap. We won't spend a lot on furniture because our kids just ruin it somehow, but we are considering Big Lots.
