i agree with okmanders, the verse before it says not to pray the same thing over and over.
Someone should tell Jesus, he prayed the same thing 3 times in the garden of Gethsemane (Matt. 26:44). And what about the angles who pray day and night without ceasing "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!" (Rev. 4:8) And don't read Psalm 136 which repeast the phrase "For his steadfast love endures for ever" 25 times.
What Matthew 6:7–8 is against is prayers done in VAIN not repeating a prayer.

Yes; however it's a guide as to how we should pray, not a verbatim word-for-word prayer.
