  • IUD is an Intra-Uterine Device. Basically, they stick a piece of copper or plastic or whatever that particular IUD is made from that is, like ena said, T shaped into your uterus. There's a small string that hangs off the bottom into the top of your vaginal canal that a doctor can use to remove it. It works by changing the lining of your uterus in a way that implantation cannot occur.

  • Also an IUD can be effective up to 10 years, depending on the type and brand.
