How do you get rid of a hornets nest without using the harmful bug sprays. We have an eco-friendly home and it is really bugging me (No pun intended.)

  • We hose down the hornets nests, then we burn them. As for the hornets that fly around you take a 2 liter pop bottle, mix some sugar and water in it, pop a hole in the side of it and shove one of those tunnel things in it that you get from the hardware store and hang it outside. They can't get out of it. It's also a cheap way to do it!

  • Honestly we always just knock them down with a broom and run... Once they hit the ground the hornets will leave them alone and you can throw them away. Pepper spray works too...

  • Our maintenance man puts the nests in a big bucket, covers it then takes it to the woods across the way.
