cheap Sept. bday for a 7yo boy?

We live in a pretty small town and I know it's a ways off but I plan way in advance. There's an inflatables place that's too expensive. He doesn't like skating. Our McDonald's is just plain nasty. We live in an apt. so we don't have enough room to have it here. I don't really know anybody's back yard we could use. Worried about a park party because of chances of bad weather. He's had two bowling parties already....what's left to do?

  • Could you plan on the park party, and in case of rain, clear all or most of the furniture out of your living room and let the kids play in there? Watch a movie, perhaps, eat pizza, open presents, and then go home?

  • There are two ways to have a cheap party:
If you have family that wouldn't mind chipping in to make a great party for your child, this would no doubt help with it financially whether it's a pizza party at someone's house (or at the pizza place), a miniature golf place, or even a BBQ!
Another is to go to a park at a certain time of day (i.e., after lunch hours where the kids have had their lunch so you don't need to give them much to snack on); fill the cooler (i.e., fun drinks, water, ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, etc.) so after the kids are done playing in the park with their friends (hoping the parents are staying to supervise and join in), everyone will have drinks, ice cream, open gifts and it's a done deal.

    Just a thought.

  • an indoor swimming pool or mall play place is fun. or mini golf or glow golf.....or going on a scavenger hunt then just doing presents and cake at your house. a game like bigger and better is fun too!

  • I don't know what you have available to you in your town. I don't know what you'll about a venue for the party, but here's a website that has some fun ideas. :)

  • What if just picks 3 boys and you take them all to the movies or for a fun night out somewhere. They could come back to your place for a sleepover if your up for it.
