here is something to ponder??

woman who back breastfeeding and abortions this question is for you.
if a woman chooses to not breastfeed is that not her choice because it is her body she is using to breastfeed her child? just like it is a woman's choice to get an abortion because it is her body?

  • Apples and oranges, because the baby inside should not be considered the mother's body. It is it's own individual life force, needing the mother to sustain itself to reach it's fullest potential. Mother and child are not the same body, therefore, apples and oranges. I've never understood the argument that abortion is okay because it's the mother's body - the baby is NOT the mother.

  • how is it not accurate she is using her body to feed her child. same as if your pregnant the child is living inside of you and living off of you.

  • MAYBE they could be compared if the non-breastfeeding mother lets her child starve to death, which i would think is crueler than abortion. but if she chooses to formula feed then the baby lives and that's different.

  • Hmmmmmm I have to say apples and oranges too, why because while yes they both have something to do with the mothers choice and her own body, HOWEVER the big huge difference between the two is one is natural while the other isn't KWIM, the thing about it is that a mother NATURALLY produces breast milk regardless if she breastfeeds or not, however unless something is wrong with either the pregnancy or the womb a woman's body does not self abort, most of the time that is.

  • I believe that women who don't want to be mothers shouldn't be. Terrible things would happen if abortions weren't an option. But when someone does decide to be a mother, the child's best interest should always come first. Not doing your best shouldn't be a choice when you decide to keep a baby. I see abortion as a valid choice that can really help someone. It spares an unwanting woman from motherhood and an unwanted child from living a life of being unwanted. Not breastfeeding however benefits no one. It's just something the mom doesn't want to do that is very bad for baby's health and the environment. The difference is if no one had the choice of abortion, "babies" would live but it'd be terrible for society. If no one had the choice to formula feed, everyone would breastfeed which is good for everyone. This is apples and oranges. It's not as simple as "Should we all get to choose everything or nothing at all?"

  • jess formula feeding is not always a choice for a mother some have to formula feed her child because she can not breast feed her child for medical reasons. i am one of those mothers. who would love to breast feed but do to medical reasons can not. but i also believe that all women should at least try it.
