Save Money/Save the Planet?

Found this article today and was wondering how many of you have actually used any of the tips in it? I'm looking for better ways to save money and help the enviroment at the same time! Are these any good?

  • I read the "Easy Ways" article, and yes, I have used some of the ideas it mentions.  Going green and saving money are often very compatible. MaMaLaLa shares some good tips as well.  You can find some additional "green ideas" in this article:

  • there's lots you can do to save money and save the environment. it's a heck of a lot cheaper and safer to buy baking soda, borax, lemon juice, vinegar, and murphy's oil soap and use them to make various household cleaners. plus, i get headaches off of the chemical stuff so i clean more often now that i use recipes with that stuff :) we rarely buy "boxed dinners" like hamburger helper anymore since i have found recipes for similar dishes. they actually don't take as long to make and i have less trash and recycling to take to the dump too. i don't buy tupperware containers- if we happen to buy stuff in plastic containers that can be reused, i throw them in the sink to be washed. most are microwavable anyway. speaking of washing dishes, i don't happen to have a dishwasher, but washing by hand saves water too.
