Cap and Trade Bill: Why ?

We all know that the actual provisions in the bill will not actually address Global Warming; that it is aimed at reducing the amount of private business and reducing the number of people who can own their own homes - just like in Europe very few people own, nearly everyone rents unless they are in the elite upper class.

But the excuse for this bill is Global Warming. Its proponents have gone to a lot of trouble to convince the public that it's true. If you still believe them, do you believe that Global Warming is happening? Why do you believe this?

  • Do you believe carbon dioxide would be causing it?

And more importantly, do you believe that the carbon dioxide from cars and factories is causing it (less than 1% compared to carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere from Nature) ?

And if you do NOT believe those who are pushing Global Warming, why not? Some informative links would be deeply appreciated.

    Thank you !

  • The earth is billion of years old. Our data on climate goes back less than 200 years. We have less than one thousandth of one percent of the total data on the earth's climate. If a doctor told you that you were going to die based on test results only obtained during a split second period while you were exhaling instead of inhaling and your heart was in diastole, would you believe him?

What we do know is that we're currently in a little ice age, part of an ongoing cycle that has happened before. The earth has been MUCH warmer than it is right now and had periods with no ice caps at all. Without people. We also know the temp of the earth has been cooling for the past several consecutive years. What that means in the big picture is - 1) we have no clue wtf is actually going on. and 2) it's going to happen eventually whether we're here or not.

Plus every "green" method is harmful somewhere along the way.

  • I believe that "global warming" is a natural cycle that this planet is undergoing...the earth warms and cools about every 20 or so years.

The "Lost EPA" report was the nail in the coffin for me.

How can people claim to have any solid knowledge of what is or isn't normal for our planet...when the Earth has been here for BILLIONS of years, and humans have only inhabited it for a nanosecond comparatively speaking!

Here is the rest of my journal on the subject

  • I have posted several links that refute the myth of global warming in other questions. The media likes the hype because fear sells and the libs like it for the control it will allow to usher in NWO. The GW people are environmental extremists. And all opposing views are looked upon as treasonous to the wacko's. And there are many many scientific studies that blow holes in the theory.

  • Thank you ... my question was sparked by the information that the Global Warming alarm was based on the 1980's rise in temp, then even more in the '90's, and they projected it was going to just increase and sea levels would be rising in the 2000's. But the sea levels have not budged in 10 years, and the temperatures are going down.

Is this reality check (which is proving their predictions to be flat wrong) the reason why the White House keeps saying we MUST pass this bill THIS YEAR?? I bet they know they need to push this through before the public and the Senators wise up and realize they are being scammed.

  • waldorf--

The current administration is rushing everything through as quickly as possible, because they know the "candy store" will be closing in 2010. Whatever they don't accomplish now, will be relegated to the back burner for AT LEAST 2 years, and like 6+ years!

Cause nobody "pays" us to agree with them by taking us to lunch and dinner and sending us thousands of dollars to "support our good work."
