Is there anything your child has been told not to discuss?

You know.. like things that are private family buisness.?
Do you tell your kids what is and is not ok to discuss in public???

How do you feel about those who do??
Is it merely teaching your child to know what is and is not acceptable to speak about in a polite society??

  • Of course. My kids know not to discuss private matters in public.

  • I try to teach that more by example, but I do, if something is important enough, sometimes tell them not to discuss a particular thing in front of other people or specific other people. But, I try to be an example, b/c I find that with mine, telling them can tend to lead to 1 of 2 things: 1. they can't resist the urge to blab to everyone, or 2. they think whatever it is is a bad thing and then they get upset.

  • I can't imagine a topic that I would not want my (almost 14 year old) daughter to discuss. We don't have "family secrets"
