I need a lilttle advice please!!!

I'm 25 weeks pregnant,I just went to the dr and she told me my iron is really low 8.7 and I may need a blood transfusion when i go in to labor she gave me iron pills to take twice a day but Im worried..what else can help me?

  • Eat meat i know that has iron also drinking way too much milk can lower your iron i have that problem could luck just look up online what foods are rich in iron and try to eat them.

  • I agree eat iron rich foods (such as red meat) but also if you eat them with food containing vitamin c it will help you body absorb the iron.

  • i had the same problem when i was pregnant-mine was around that number i believe. like everyone else said-eat lots of food with iron. take your iron pill like you are supposed to. thats what i did, and i didnt need a transfusion

    # Enriched breakfast cereals
    # Cooked beans and lentils

    # Baked potato with skin
    # Enriched pasta
    # Canned asparagus

    Warning: Pregnant women should not eat liver because of its very high Vitamin A content. Large amounts of Vitamin A can be harmful to the baby.

  • Take your supplements and eat foods that contain lot's of iron. Besides red meat ,legumes, green leafy vegetables like spinach, cereals with iron and fiber. This will help since iron also tends to constipate!!!
