  • Love the answer above!!!!

The World Health Organization recommends a minimum of two years. I nursed to 26 months.

"Too old" can only be defined by the members of the nursing dyad, no one else.

  • If the child can ask for it or answer you when you ask if they are thirsty then you need to STOP.

  • When a child can walk up to the mom, pull her shirt up and pull her boob out, they may be getting too old!

  • If you have to go to school to nurse, the kid is too old to breastfeed.

If the boy is starting to tell his friends about the size of his moms "boobs", the kid is too old to breastfeed.

If the kid tells his friends, "Just a minute I'm thirsty" then pops a boob for a quick drink, the kid is too old to breastfeed.

If the kid is eating a balanced diet of nutritious food, there is no need for breastfeeding.
