bowel movements...tmi

ok so i'm 39 weeks pregnant at my last doctors appointment i was told that i'm 3 cm dilated and completely thinned out. so i've heard that your body cleans itself out before you go into labor. before i got pregnant i only had bowel movements like evey 3 or 4 days and this past week i've had one everyday sometimes more than once, is my body saying it ready to go into labor. i've also been having some sharp pains in my private area..

  • It could be your body getting ready, it could be something you're eating...who knows.

Not every woman's body 'cleans itself out' before labor. And no, enema's are not given before labor anymore as a requirement...I mean, I imagine you could have one if you wanted one, but I don't even know why you'd want to.

BTW, have 3 -4 bowel movements per week is NOT healthy. You should, ideally have a bowel movement (if not more than 1) EVERYDAY. Ever notice how animals have one after every meal they eat? Same principle.
