When did your periods go back to normal while breastfeeding?

I am EBFing my four month old and had my period last month. Should I be expecting another period sometime or does it take forever for me to be regular again? Oh, and we are TTC again, so it bothers me because I don't know if I am pregnant or if my period is just going to be out of wack for a while.

  • I have only had one period since I've had my youngest and I really believe that was only a reaction to my daughter starting her period for the first time. I've been breastfeeding for 14 months. Good luck on TTC. If you have a dollar store or something similar they usually have pregnancy tests buy a bunch of them!

  • I got mine a month after i gave birth and am also EBF...lucky me huh?? On the other hand my friend breastfed for over a year and didn't get her period until a few months after she stopped! I really think it's different for everyone unfortunately.

  • and wow!! You're already TTC? That's exciting - good luck!

  • It widely varies from woman to woman. So there's no definite answer or expectation. I had an odd "mini-period" at 3 mos, then regular periods starting at 5 months. It usually only matters if you're EBFing.

  • DS is almost 8 months and no period! I also have mirena, which causes some spotting... but the spotting is SO light.
