  • The beauty of my religious affiliation too is that we don't have to pay a tithe(sp?) or a set amount. Like the bible account of the elderly woman who drop in her two coins of little value into the temple box but it was all she had her portion was looked at more favorably than those who dropped off more out of their surplus and wanted to be looked upon as tho they were doing more. Give what you can reasonably afford but give out of love and want not out of obligation.

In regards to charities we apply the same rule of thumb. We give what we can afford at that appointed time, sometimes it's more sometimes it's less.

  • We give clothing all the time, toys for tots we give at least 4 toys(2 for a girl and 2 for a boy) here and there we give money to the march of dimes. As soon as our kids start school then we'll be doing more on a monthly basis.

  • Same here grly--which adds up to around $40k per year (of take home pay)! BUT, if cap and trade and ObamaCare pass, we will be cutting back on who and how much we give.

  • We give several thousand to charities each year. I'll remain anon as I know some will think that's bragging. It isn't. It's just a fact.
