What car fits 3 car seats?

We're seriously thinking we'll have a third next year. That will make #1 3-4yrs and #2 2-3yrs depending on when #3 is born. We already have a freestyle but I would really rather keep a car, I love my little Focus! But, I refuse to put a 4-yr-old in the front seat and will need to have an infant or convertible seat, a convertible or harnessed booster seat, and a harnessed booster or regular booster seat all in the back.

SO, question is...what car fits 3 seats in the back? What do you have that you like? Or do you have anything you hate? I don't really want to get a van since we already have the Freestyle.

  • Why don't you just drive the freestyle when you have the kids and the focus when you don't?

  • A trailblazer is roomy, but with three seats it won't be comfortable. Anything that has a third row of seats is good, but they're pricey.

  • Thanks ladies, but I really am hoping to find a car, not an SUV, since we already have the Freestyle (cross-over with 3rd row of seats).

  • I honestly think that if you want a car to fit 3 car seats in the back, you will have to get a late 70's/early 80's gas guzzler.

  • Definitely NOT a Hyundai Tucson! We have to trade our Tucson in because of the same problem. I have a 5 YO, 3 YO and a newborn and it's a VERY tight squeeze with all 3 car seats. We are looking into a Tahoe maybe.

I also like the Chevy Avalanche. I looked at one and it has a TON of room in the back!

and again we like the Mercury Mountaineers. They have 3 row seats and is very roomy as well.....

  • You do NOT want any form of Blazer!!! We had 2 and they are pieces of crap! It was one problem after the other with Chevy Blazers!

  • Any vehicle is going to be cramped in the back with three car seats. My mom has a malibu, and while all three of kids car seats fit, it is cramped. I would just use the freestyle when need to go somewhere with all the kids! We use to have an explorer and got rid of it to get a van. I love my van, so much easier to go anywhere with three kids. We also have a Dodge 1500 with four doors, and that has tons of room also, the car seats don't even touch!

  • wow, what a great question, we have one child but know a lot of families that have 3 -7 kids. We currently have a malibu and feel it would work pretty good if we needed to put 3 kiddos in at a time. It seems like once you have four you really have to go for an SUV, if nothing else but for sanity for everything you need and a place to put it. did a little search, results below
