What do you do when 3 is a crowd?

My daughter is 8 years old. She and her very good friends are having difficulty when there are 3 girls playing together. One of the girls usually ends up getting her feelings hurt because they are feeling left out.

What have you found that helps girls this age understand how to handle this situation. Should my child have to apologize and what would they say since they really do not to get our more often

  • just talked about this last night , we have a 9 yr old girl and three young girls are usually not going to get along. Adding a fourth is a good idea.

Sometimes letting the chips fall where they may - three girls, three different opinions and a fight with hurt feelings

Supervise (listen in) maybe there are real concerns with behavoir of one, but usually just youth finding their place in a social situation=that equals a life lesson.

  • try to find another friend for them, a foursome would make sure no one is left out. Or try and give them games where they all have to interact together.

  • That's just part of being that age. It definitely helps to have even numbers, even though occasionally then you can have one girl left out. If it really is a problem, I would just schedule play dates one on one for now until they get a little older.
