a question about my newborns bm's

i have a week and half old and she hasnt taken a poop all day is that normal??

  • if you are breast feeding yes that is normal.. as long as she does not seem to be in pain... just keep doing what you are doing.. if she is pulling her legs up and acting extra fussy, then i would call the ped! good luck , and congrats!

  • My daughter has always been on a bottle and she has always occasionally skipped a day. She usually has a extra bm the next day. So I wouldn't worry too much unless she seems sick or uncomfortable.

  • Newborns are very irregular. A BF baby can go up to a week without a bowel movement with little concern ( a growth spurt may cause baby to use every last drop of breast milk with little waste). A bottle fed baby can go a couple of days without concern. If baby doesn't seem uncomfortable...then don't worry about it.
